Make sense with the senses

Welcome to Bastes Wine Bar, located in the heart of Kosterhavets National Park!

You’ll find us on Nordkoster in the historic ”Milton” building, which once served as an important guesthouse on the island. We provide a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy a curated selection of wines, with a particular focus on natural and biodynamic wines. Our menu consists of small dishes emphasizing pure ingredients that complement the wine experience. Here, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean Skagerrak and the local wildlife while basking in the weather, wind, and sunshine.

In addition to wine and small dishes, we serve “fika” – swedish name for a coffee break. Every summer we exhibit art and we have a small shop with local arts and crafts. Our culture events focus on audience participation like sing-a-long or stories from locals in our theatre plays.

Experience a touch of Nordkoster’s charm at our Wine Bar – with a view.
We warmly welcome you!

Closed for the summer season from 12 augusti

Hello! I’m Louise, and I’m fortunate to work with wine at Bastes Wine Bar!

I’ve been on Koster my whole life, through summer, winter, spring, and fall. When selecting wines and designing the menu for Bastes, I draw inspiration from the natural beauty of this island. Food, wine, and nature are closely connected, and I find it exciting to showcase this harmony. Nature is dynamic, and I aim for our wine and menu to reflect that as well. I look forward to seeing you this summer!

2024 exhibition at Bastes Wine Bar

Malin Redvall paints watercolors inspired by the West Coast. Sky, sea, mountains, and birds. She is drawn to the rapid shifts in light. The silver-gray and blue shades in the calm rain over the sea, and the power of the light when the sun breaks through the clouds.

Malin Redvall grew up in Gothenburg but always spent her summers in Bohuslän. Nowadays, she resides in Nesodden outside Oslo. From her studio window, she looks out over the fjord and is inspired by the ever-changing weather over the sea and mountains.

Over the past 10 years, she has exhibited regularly in her own gallery at Ramsvik near Hunnebostrand. She has also participated in juried exhibitions organized by, among others, the Nordic Watercolor Society, Royal Watercolour Society, Edsvik Konsthall’s watercolor salon, Nesodden Kunsthall, and Norsk akvarell in Oslo City Hall.

She has always drawn and painted and was trained in both art and music as a youth. After working as a composer for many years, she returned to visual creation with watercolor as her primary medium.
